Hera is a candidate mission that will be humankind's first probe to rendezvous with a binary asteroid system. It is an interdisciplinary mission to find out more about this type of asteroid and to investigate asteroid deflection.
Hera has four main aims: to analyse the hazards associated with asteroid impact, to test out new space technology, to find out more about the evolution of the Solar System and the physics of impacts, and potentially to increase our capabilities to use in-situ resources to produce propellant.
