ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano snaps a picture during his first spacewalk in a complex series to service the cosmic ray detecting Alpha Magnetic Spectometer AMS-02.

As the lead spacewalker, known as EV1, he wears the American EMU spacesuit with red stripes. His spacewalking partner NASA astronaut Andrew Morgan wears the white American EMU spacesuit with no stripes. This spacewalk was the first in which a European astronaut held the leading spacewalk role.
