SUNSTORM is a GSTP Cubesat being built through Element 3: FLY. Vibration testing, thermal vacuum testing and testing of the deployment mechanism for the solar arrays (pictured) on the 2U CubeSat SunStorm was carried out this week by the prime contractor, Reaktor Space Lab in Finland.
The Cubesat will carry another GSTP activity on-board, an innovative new X-Ray Flux Monitor which will bring Europe closer to gaining autonomy over its own space weather forecasts and providing valuable redundancy for space weather forecasters globally.
SUNSTORM is planned to fly by early 2021.
