ESA is the first and only International Space Station partner to combine the expertise of Communicator and Medical Operations as a single console position, both having the voice and well-being of astronauts at their core. The emblem was developed collaboratively by all certified Eurocom Flight Controllers and features Earth in space with the map showing Europe where the European Astronaut Centre (EAC), the Columbus Control Centre (COL-CC) and the USOCs are located, a Staff of Aesculapius pointing to EAC in Cologne, the Cologne Cathedral ECG heartbeat, five stars for the five Space Station Mission Control centres (Houston, Huntsville, Munich, Moscow and Tsukuba), the Station orbiting Earth and all encased in a Flight Controller headset (single sided earpiece and microphone).
