European spacewalkers

A list of all European astronauts who have done spacewalks, presented in order of total time spent doing an Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA), and the number of spacewalks denoted by the astronaut icon.

Known to the crew as an EVA (extravehicular activity), each spacewalk provides a valuable opportunity to carry out repairs, test new equipment and even perform science experiments beyond the confines of a spacecraft. Exiting the International Space Station however brings heightened risk and activities are planned down to the minute.

This infographic was updated in July 2021 and again in September after the spacewalks of Thomas Pesquet during his Alpha mission.
