Through its telecommunications activities, ESA fosters space-based innovation to enable connectivity for the benefit of industry, society and the economy. The agency is accelerating the deployment of 5G and 6G networks, secure connectivity and next-generation technology to enable optical communications and services like data relay at the Moon.
ESA forges partnerships with European industry to support the design and manufacture of pioneering telecommunications satellites, and helps entrepreneurs devise and commercialise space-enabled technologies and services on Earth. These efforts help to tackle emerging societal challenges, create jobs, and boost European competitiveness in the global satellite communications market.
