ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen (DK) is scheduled to fly on a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station on its seventh crewed operational flight called Crew-7, the 13th overall Crew Dragon orbital flight. Flying with commander NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli, Andreas will serve as spacecraft pilot - the first non-US astronaut assigned in this capacity. Two more crew members have been named as JAXA astronaut Satoshi Furukawa and cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov. This crew will join Expeditions 69/70 on the Space Station.
Central to the SpaceX Crew-7 patch is Earth, with its beauty and magnificence standing out against the white dragon and black background. The caring dragon holds Earth protectively, highlighting that every aspect of Crew-7’s long-duration mission is ultimately for the benefit of our home planet and those on it. The dragon also represents the Crew Dragon capsule, its neck craned in the shape of a figure '7' to represent the seventh operational flight of the Crew Dragon spacecraft to the Space Station.
The dragon’s tail curves upwards towards a golden star, symbolising the ascent towards the stars in honour of the pioneering spirit and perseverance that continue to propel us further in human space exploration. The colours blue, white and red on the tail symbolise the international nature of the crew, used in the flags of their nations – the USA, Denmark, Japan and Russia. The crew is proud to represent the progress that can be achieved for all of humankind when we work together in unity. The Crew-7 astronauts dedicate this patch to all those who are contributing to the success of the Crew-7 mission, especially their families and to the next generation of explorers.
