The second European Service Module at the NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida during DFAT, the Direct Field Acoustic Test, which assesses how well the spacecraft will withstand the vibrations of its launch to the Moon. DFAT is one of the tests the European Service Module has to endure before being attached to the Crew Module to form the Orion vehicle which will bring astronauts around the Moon and back during the Artemis II mission.
This European Service Module will provide crucial life support and necessary resources – water, air, power and propulsion – for their lunar voyage, ensuring their well-being and mission success. The made-in-Europe powerhouse encapsulates years of ingenuity and safeguards the crew from the harsh space environment.
