Anegada, an island in the British Virgin Isles, captured from the International Space Station on 23 September 2023 by ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen during his Huginn Mission. When Andreas shared the picture on social media, he said:
"It is the only inhabited island in the island group that is made of coral and limestone, all the other are of volcanic origin.
It is home to a few hundred people as well as several endangered animals, like the Anegada rock iguana, and a number of turtles species. The Caribbean flamingo also use to stay here in the thousands but disappeared in the 1950’s due to hunting. Now they are back in the hundreds."
