ESA career astronaut Rosemary Coogan holds the Handheld Universal Lunar Camera during an imagery meeting with NASA in the Netherlands.
When astronauts return to the Moon, they will take more pictures of the lunar surface than any humans before. To develop the best camera for the job, European astronauts and scientists are lending a helping hand to NASA’s Artemis imagery team.
Rosemary, from the United Kingdom, is a member of the ESA Astronaut Class of 2022. She is one of the more than 22 500 candidates who submitted a valid application in 2021 in response to ESA’s call for new astronauts for missions to the International Space Station and beyond.
