Smile's SXI instrument

ESA's Smile mission will carry onboard the soft X-ray image (SXI) to map the location, shape and motion of the boundaries of Earth's magnetosphere. This is important for understanding the interaction between the Sun and Earth, and preparing for future bursts of energy from the Sun.
