This animation uses data from the Copernicus Sentinel-5P satellite to show the concentration of carbon monoxide over Canada. Black circles in the image show the identified fire pixels from ESA’s World Fire Atlas which uses data from the Copernicus Sentinel-3A satellite to detect fires globally.
The extremely high concentrations of carbon monoxide, depicted in dark shades of orange, can be linked to active fires during this time period.
