Roy Gibson seen during a meeting at ESTEC with representatives of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in  November 1978. An agreement had been signed in April 1978 for closer cooperation, in particular for the development of the Indian APPLE Project. APPLE was a 630 kg three-axis stabilised geostationary technological satellite built by ISRO, to be carried on the be carried third development flight of Ariane, L03, with Meteosat-2.
