ESA’s Arctic Weather Satellite was launched on 16 August 2024 at 20:56 CEST (11:56 local time) aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California as part of the Transporter-11 rideshare. The satellite was released into orbit approximately after two hours and 30 minutes after liftoff.
Arctic Weather Satellite will pave the way for a potential constellation of satellites that would provide more frequent data not only to enhance short-term weather forecasts for Arctic nations, but for the world as a whole.
