The fourth in ESA's series of five Automated Transfer Vehicles was launched on June 5th, 2013 and is on its way to the International Space Station.
Carried into orbit onboard an Ariane 5 launcher from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana, it takes ten days to reach the ISS.
The automated rendezvous and docking is planned this 15 June at 13h48 GMT.
ATV's cargo of essential supplies for the station will be unloaded the following week by the Astronauts.
It will remain attached to the station, providing the crew with extra working and stowage space, before undocking and burning up over the Pacific Ocean in October.
This A Roll shows the launch of ATV 4 with spectacular images taken from cameras onboard Ariane. It then explains the mission of the Automated Transfer Vehicule considered as one of the most sophisticated spacecraft today.
Note that the B roll includes images of launch and in particular from the onboard cameras for all flight phases plus ATV separation and also the ATV mission animations.
