Time to wake up Rosetta! CHANGE OF SATELLITE PARAMETERS
Date: Mon, Jan 20, 2014 | 17:30 - 19:00 GMT | 18:30 - 20:00 CET
Type: ESA TV Live
Format: 16:9
(All times in GMT).
We have had to change our satellite output today to standard definition and set a new symbol rate. Downlink frequency, polarisation, FEC and modulation are unchanged. Please see full parameters below.
ESA TV offers a dedicated live programme from the European Space Operations Centre, ESOC, at Darmstadt in Germany, from which ESA operates most of its satellites. This January 20th at 1000 GMT, after a 10-year journey towards comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, the European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft wakes up in deep space after a temporary hibernation.
Follow the ESA TV programme around this unprecedented event from ESOC; where scientists will be waiting for a signal to let them know that Rosetta is "awake and ready for action". This tiny signal must travel 800 million kilometres across space. Once received, it will be "all systems go" with some challenging manoeuvres ahead. The spacecraft will then prepare for rendezvous and orbit with the comet.
At 1730–1800GMT ESA TV will air Rosetta signal status, with confirmation of signal delivered live from ESOC by Rosetta/ESOC management. Will be transmitted via satellite and webcast on ESA Portal and Livestream.
As soon as possible, highlights will be posted on ESA TV FTP during the afternoon and in the evening after 1900GMT. These files will be posted on ESA TV FTP server. (Please use a ftp client to access files).
