In early April, Sentinel 1A will be launched from Europe’s spaceport in French Guyane on top of a Soyuz launcher.
It is the first satellite of the Copernicus programme, previously known as the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security programme (GMES).
Sentinel 1 is a polar-orbiting satellite system for a radar mission to provide an all-weather day-and-night imagery.
