End of mission for ATV-5 after 6 months attached to the International Space Station.
“Georges Lemaitre” Automated Transfer Vehicle will be undocked from the aft port of the Zvezda Service Module, on the Russian side of the ISS. Undocking is scheduled at 13:41 GMT on 14 February.
Re entry in the atmosphere is planned the following day over the South Pacific.
This controlled atmospheric re-entry will mark the end of ESA’s ATV programme, after some twenty years of developing, planning and building of what remains as the heaviest cargo vehicle that ESA has launched and as the smartest spacecraft to be used in orbit.
For years ATV has played a crucial role in the supply chain of the ISS, spotlighting the know-how of European industry and paving the way for future new endeavours thanks to its advances in technology.
This A & B Roll includes images of ATV 5 launch and docking, with interviews of Thomas Reiter, Director of Human Spaceflight and Operations, ESA and Alan Thirkettle, ESA Former ISS Programme Manager.
