Watch ExoMars launch on top of Russian Proton rocket.
Lift-off scheduled at 15h31 Baikonur / 9h31 GMT /10h31 CET
The first mission of the ExoMars programme, scheduled to arrive at Mars in 2016, consists of a Trace Gas Orbiter plus an entry, descent and landing demonstrator module, known as Schiaparelli.
The main objectives of this mission are to search for evidence of methane and other trace atmospheric gases that could be signatures of active biological or geological processes and to test key technologies in preparation for ESA's contribution to subsequent missions to Mars.
Note that the coverage of this flight will be in 2 main parts on the satellite and web:
8h30 - 10h00 GMT : last operations, lift-off and ascent
21h00 - 21h43 : confirmation of spacecraft separation and acquisition of signal
Updates will be given during the day on the ESA portal.
Live transmission can also be followed on the web via the ESA portal.
