STS-55: The D2 Project

This documentary gives an overview of the preparation for the Spacelab D2 project (STS-55), utilising the American space shuttle Columbia. D-2 became the second Spacelab flight under German mission management and 16 of about 90 scheduled experiments originated from the DLR (German Aerospace Research Establishment). The film shows the project management, crew members, astronauts training, a variety of experiments, the space operations centre, ground crew in control centre, construction of hardware and, as a conclusion, an interview with D2 commander Hans schlegel.
