Lappland stretches along the northernmost parts of Scandinavia.
From mountainous peaks in the west, the land slopes downward to a lower-lying and marshy taiga, covered with snow for 8 months every year. It is here near the town of Kiruna that Esrange is located, a space centre from which Europe launches his sounding rockets into space.
The 1st of April 2003, it is a beautiful morning, and Maxus 5, the biggest sounding rocket launched from this remote place, is ready for lift-off.
However, the mission objective is not to put a payload permanently into space. Maxus 5 will provide 12 and half minutes of microgravity for scientific experiments onboard, and immediately afterwards return these to Earth for further analysis.

I think Maxus is the most powerful sounding rocket today, because it is very powerful in the sense of that is has about 10 tons of solid propellant and itÕs able, or has the capability, to transport a payload of 800 kg
