People no longer have to be in space to work there. Robot systems follow the movements of their human controller. 3D vision and force-feedback controls make operators feel right there.
The ESA Telerobotics & Haptics Laboratory is a new engineering research laboratory of the European Space Agency at ESTEC in the Netherlands. At ESA’s Telerobotics & Haptics Laboratory, advanced mechatronic devices are being developed for teleoperation and haptics for space applications. They study and research how to optimize the hardware, software and control interfaces between humans and a variety of robotic systems for more intuitive remote operations by human operators.
