Wind and sea surface temperature over Europe

The strong Mistral and Tramontana offshore winds are suddenly cooling the sea-surface temperatures in summer . . . beware when going for a swim.

Temperatures are from the ESA European node for precise High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature, and surface winds are from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. Animation is produced using the Ocean Virtual Laboratory standalone application, developed by OceanDataLab under the SEOM programme.
