Four hours in 40 seconds – a timelapse of ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano dismantling a microscope in the Japanese Kibo module on the International Space Station during his Beyond mission. This footage was captured on 9 September 2019.
The microscope was used for JAXA experiment Space Moss that looks at how microgravity affects the growth, development, gene expression, photosynthetic activity, and other features of moss. Results could help researchers develop a new strain suited for growth on the space station, future space missions, and bases on the Moon or Mars.
