ESA’s Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (Juice) was developed and constructed at different sites across Europe. This second episode in ‘The making of Juice’ series takes the viewer behind the scenes of the European space industry and planetary science community involved in the mission.
In this episode, Juice Project Manager Giuseppe Sarri from ESA/ESTEC in the Netherlands talks about how the teams at Airbus in Germany were able to continue to work despite the COVID-19 situation.
We go to Airbus in Friedrichshafen where Markus Faust, the local head of the Juice project, talks about the activities on site and we see how the team from Airbus Madrid performs the successful integration of the optical bench. Carlos Roldán, who is the team leader for the functional testing of Juice, introduces his team of young enthusiastic people working from the so-called ‘Juice Check Out Room’, next to the cleanroom where the spacecraft is being integrated.
November 2023 update: This episode is part of a film project that culminated in a two-hour documentary film released in November 2023.
