Snow water equivalent

This animation shows water stored in snow on 1 April 2018. Snow and ice are important sources of freshwater. With climate change becoming more evident, there is a need to understand more about how a warming climate is altering the distribution of snow and ice and how this, in turn, is influencing the water cycle.
