The Copernicus Imaging Microwave Radiometer, CIMR, carries a wide-swath conically-scanning multifrequency microwave radiometer to provide low-frequency (L-, C-, X-, K- and Ka-band), dual polarisation measurements with high spatial resolution and radiometric sensitivity.
This combination provides unprecedented cloud-free measurements of the rapidly changing Arctic sea-ice concentration, sea-surface temperature, sea-surface salinity, and more. Measuring 95% of the globe every day with sub-daily revisits over the polar regions, CIMR places the Arctic in a global context to support solutions for this fragile region and to combat the effects of climate change worldwide.
