EarthCARE, the Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer, satellite carries a set of four instruments to make a range of different measurements that together will shed new light on the role that clouds and aerosols play in regulating Earth’s climate.
EarthCARE is a joint venture between ESA and JAXA, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, with JAXA providing the cloud profiling radar instrument.
In this video, Hirotaka Nakatsuka, Associate Senior Engineer at JAXA, discusses JAXA’s role to develop the cloud profiling radar (CPR) instrument which enables EarthCARE to observe the internal structure of clouds.
