Moon Camp Challenge: and the winners are…
The European Space Agency, Airbus Foundation and Autodesk are delighted to announce the winners of the Moon Camp Challenge 2018-2019.
The challenge was taken up by over 850 pupils around the world, with 535 participants coming from 15 ESA Member States. Over the past few months students used ESA’s educational resources, Airbus Foundation’s animations and Autodesk 3D design tools to create their lunar camps, coming up with the most creative, innovative and suited-to-purpose designs.
The challenge was tough, but the quality of entries was extremely high, so congratulations on behalf of ESA, Airbus Foundation and Autodesk to all!
A panel of experts in space and lunar exploration had the difficult task of selecting the three best entries from ESA Member States and the three best from non-ESA Member States in each category. All of the entries were judged based on their creativity, feasibility, quality of the 3D model and the adaptability of the design to the lunar environment. The winners will participate in a webinar with ESA’s astronaut Tim Peake on the 29thof May; they will also receive school mentoring sessions from space experts as well as 3D printers for their schools, among other prizes.
The evaluation panel was so impressed with the overall quality of the entries that, in addition to the winning teams, highly commended teams have been identified for the quality of their design, and will receive a special certificate.
Well done!
