Your chance to perform microgravity or hypergravity experiments
Are you a university student who dreams of using a world-class gravitational facility for experiments? If yes then ESA’s Education Office wants to hear from you. All you have to decide is whether you want to go heavy or light. In other words: hypergravity or microgravity?
The deadline for both Spin Your Thesis! and Drop Your Thesis! 2014 programmes has been extended to 3 March 2014 so that as many students as possible have the chance to apply for these opportunities.
The chosen teams for the Spin Your Thesis! programme will spend 5 days at the ESA’s largest centre, the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, conducting their experiments on the Large Diameter Centrifuge (LDC) that allows samples to be exposed to acceleration forces of 1-20 times Earth’s gravity.
The chosen team for the Drop Your Thesis! programme will spend two weeks at the Center of Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM), Bremen, which boasts a 146 m high tower that provides experiments with up to 9.3 seconds of microgravity.
Students will be given the excellent opportunity of using these unique facilities and working with engineers from ZARM and/or ESA, who will help them set-up experiments and get the most out of their allotted time.

Teams from ESA Member States and Cooperating States* that are interested in participating in one of these two unique opportunities, are encouraged to register on the ESA Education Office's project portal and upload their completed application by 3 March 2014.
