We support commercial companies with R&D activities for the development of ground & user technologies and products targeting commercial markets, in the domains of satellite navigation (GNSS), Earth Observation, and any other user segment.
Ground & User Segment Markets in Space Applications
- Yearly revenues worldwide in satellite downstream applications account for more than $100B
- Time-to-market is typically 6 to 24 months
- More than 1200 companies are present in ESA States, mostly Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

GSTP Make
The GSTP Make programme supports commercial ground & user segment design, development, testing and productisation activities. Industry defines the work to be performed and the technical performances to be achieved. Contracts are awarded on the basis of proposals made by Industry for developments aligned with their own product and technology roadmap plans. Products and technologies are defined to be any hardware, software/firmware, or systems.
The main characteristics of GSTP Make are:
- Support the introduction of new technologies and techniques up to TRL 6 (Prototype, EM)
- Develop new products or enhance existing products up to TRL 8 (Product, EQM)
- Open Call for Proposal, in direct negotiation
- Industry initiative, defining the business / strategy and technical aspects
- Co-funded by ESA and Industry, with special support for SMEs and Research Institutes
- Requires Letter of Support from National Delegation
- Companies own the IPR

- Technical expertise and access to labs
- Commercial know-how
- Wide view of the market in more than 30 countries
- Networking within industrial community
