N° 47–2022: ESA highlights in the last quarter of 2022

23 September 2022

A very busy end of the year 2022 lies ahead for ESA: the ESA Ministerial Council in Paris will take critical decisions for fostering the European space sector and bringing the benefits of space and its applications to citizens in Europe and worldwide. Furthermore, the results of ESA’s astronaut selection will be announced at the end of the Council.

Europe needs more geopolitical autonomy to play a role in the world and secure the welfare of Europeans. This is also true for space. ESA can achieve things that go beyond the capability of any single ESA Member State. Together European space is much stronger.

About the European Space Agency

The European Space Agency (ESA) provides Europe’s gateway to space.

ESA is an intergovernmental organization, created in 1975, with the mission to shape the development of Europe’s space capability and ensure that investment in space delivers benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world.

ESA has 22 Member States: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
