Working with Landsat images
  
For further analysis of the area under investigation, we will open another satellite image with a higher spatial resolution. Open the following images with LEOWorks:
  • khumbu_1.tif
  • khumbu_2.tif
  • khumbu_3.tif
  • khumbu_4.tif
  • khumbu_5.tif
  • khumbu_7.tif
These are single spectral bands of a subset of a Landsat TM satellite image. This satellite takes images of the same part of the Earth every 16 days, and does so for many years. This makes it a very interesting source of data for the comparison of images taken in different years (multitemporal analysis).

1. Can you think of any specific use for multitemporal analysis?

2. How many bands does Landsat TM have? What colours do they represent?

3. Which spatial resolution do the bands have?
