Classification of the image data

Construct a graphical chart from the table of numbers you have filled in:
    X= spectral bands 0.4 to 2.2
    Y= pixel value
1. Analyse the graphical chart. Which land cover differs across the spectral bands, and which graphs are rather flat? Which band combination is optimal for separating utmost land cover classes?

Now you are in a position to perform a classification of the image data and to generate a thematic map showing the land cover of the area. Before doing so, carefully study the chapter in the LEOWorks Tutorial.

Area around the Imja Tso in false colour

When you start the training field selection, use the 'Khumbu_432', and remember that on the figure shown here you have good examples of such training fields. However, you need to add more, and also some more land cover classes, such as 'Light gravel and rocks in the sun' and 'Gravel and rocks in shadow'. Add 'Lakes' as well, as they differ from 'Glacial lakes', and 'Mountain vegetation in shadow', etc. This task is a time-consuming one.

2. Which land cover classes have the biggest surface (highest amount of pixels)? Which have the lowest? Explain why.

3. Discuss the natural living conditions for the people and their possibilities for development.
