ESA's Multimedia Programme ARTES-3 calls for ideas
ESA is calling for European and Canadian companies to come up with ideas for themes to be included in the 2001 Annual Plan of Activities for the ARTES-3 Multimedia Programme – a programme designed to help industry and service providers to compete in the multimedia satellite market.
ESA has just issued a Call for Ideas for themes to be included in the 2001 Annual Plan of Activities for the ARTES-3 Multimedia Programme.
This programme, which commenced operations in 1997 with the aim of helping industry and service providers to become competitive in the multimedia satellite market, is led by the growth in demand for broadband interactive services, which promote the development of new applications.
Ideas are sought for two of the three activities of the Programme: the development of satellite communications multimedia markets (fixed and mobile implementation of services and applications) and the development of satellite communications multimedia (fixed/mobile) system elements (products). A third aim of the programme, supporting pioneering novel systems, is outside this particular Call for Ideas as its activities are managed jointly by ESA and the relevant system integrators. ARTES 3 is intended to serve a broad industry base, ranging from small- to medium-sized enterprises to large space companies, satcom operators, service providers and other interested bodies. Activities are usually co-funded by ESA and are a fundamental component of the public/private partnership strategy of the European and Canadian space programmes. Your ideas can and do influence the shape and scope of the ARTES 3 Programme so please send them in, using the Call for Ideas form, either by email to:
