The STS-80 mission - the longest shuttle mission to date - was launched on November 19th, 1996. It involved deployment and retrieval of the free-flying astrophysics satellite Orfeus-Spas 2, by Columbus's RMS [Remote Manipulator System]. The aim of this satellite was to investigate the far and extreme UV regions of the electromagnetic spectrum.
