Russian Proton launch of the functional cargo block (FGB); American Node 1; Russian Service Module (SM); addition of elements of the American Truss and Russian Science and Power Platform (SPP), using the European Robotic Arm (ERA); addition of photovoltaic solar arrays, thermal radiators and communications equipment; addition of the US lab, three Russian research modules (RM1, RM2, RM3), Japanese Experiment module (JEM) and the European Laboratory Module (COF).
