- Description
Due for launch by Ariane 5 in June 2001, Envisat-1 is an advanced polar-orbiting Earth Observation satellite, which will provide measurements of the atmosphere, ocean, land and ice over a five year period. As a successor to ESA's ERS-1 and ERS-2 spacecraft, Envisat will collect remote sensing data which will support Earth science research and allow monitoring of the evolution of environmental and climatic changes.
This VNR, in A- and B-roll format, provides an interview with David Spencer, ENVISAT Assembly and Test Manager, Matra Marconi Space, and background footage on Envisat, including animations and film of the integration and testing taking place at ESTEC, Netherlands. The A-roll footage includes: Envisat lifted by crane in cleanroom, ESTEC; Ariane 5 launch; graphics of Envisat orbiting Earth; general views of Envisat integration, ESTEC; graphics showing operation of ASAR (Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar), deployed by Envisat; various SAR images of Earth; shot of flight instrument's integration ontNot available
