- Description
The European Space Agency ESA on the 28 March 2002 revealed the crucial first two observations from its newest environmental satellite Envisat. Two large prints were unveiled at a press conference in Frascati near Rome, Italy, marking the beginning of the Earth's biggest health scan ever. One image focused on Antarctica and the issue of global warming.
Although only in orbit for a few days, Envisat was already providing scientists with clues to important questions. An encouraging start for ESA's newest satellite - as it promises to shed light on the controversies surrounding man's impact on the planet.
This programme includes images of the unveiling, plus video graphics and animations of these first images. Soundbites by leading scientists from France, the UK and Germany comment on the data.
The programme includes a 4-minute A-roll with English voive-over (split audio) and a 10-minute B-roll with clean, international sound.
