      This programme provides an overview of the events since the launch two months ago, plus some further animated images from the Meric and ASAR instrument, covering various regions of the globe.
      The 5-minute A-roll contains split audio with an English guide track and is complemented by a B-roll with international sound only, including sound bites with ESA scientists.

      Since the launch of ENVISAT on March 1st 2002, more and more fascinating observations are being revealed.
      The first two weeks of March saw ESA's ground controllers and engineers powering up the satellite and the instruments on board, know as the ñSwitch on and data acquisition phaseî
      One by one each of the Ten instruments have been turned on, calibrated and verified, these activities are essential to guarantee the quality of the data that ESA provides to the end user.

      ñWell now after the initial excitement of the early days, then we have been going through the switching on all of the 10 instruments on ENVISAT(? cutaway?..) and this has been also going very well we are all very pleased that we are on schedule and we are also looking forward to the rest of the data products being distributed.î
      Further tuning of the first data took place at ESA's research facility in Frascati, Italy, it is here that ENVISAT's first results were viewed by an enthusiasti
