STS-111 was an 11 day mission in June 2002 to the ISS featuring three spacewalks. French astronaut Philippe Perrin participated in this mission, which also saw the installation of the ESA-built Microgravity Science Glovebox on the ISS.

STS-111, the 14th shuttle mission to the International Space Station lifted off from Cape Canaveral on June 5 to deliver the next permanent crew, Expedition 5. The space shuttle Endeavour thundered into the clear afternoon skies at the beginning of a mission to continue the assembly and maintenance of the orbital outpost.
The payload of the shuttle included one of the Italian built Multi Purpose Logistics Modules, which are used to deliver supplies to the ISS. This marked the 5th flight of an MPLM to the station and its contents included the European built Microgravity Science Glovebox, or MSG.
A faultless docking took place setting the stage for 8 days of operations highlighted by 3 scheduled spacewalks, or EVA's, to install the Mobile Base System and fix a wrist joint on the Canadian Robotic Arm. The replacement of the Expedition 4 crew with the Expedition 5 crew was marked by the exchange of the custom made Soyuz return craft seat liners and Russian entry suits.
