The security of Olympic games is an obvious concern. Recently experiments with satellite navigation were carried out in Athens with the aim to increase the safety aroun this important event.
Security guards experimented with a personal digital assitant featuring a satellite navigation device, through wich they could trigger alarms. this enables secrutity management to take decisions based on accurate knowledge -two metre precision- from where the alarm originates, to wich is added knowledge about the location of the security vehicles.

In Olympic Athens security is an obvious concern.
So experiments are being carried out on critical applications, based on the European satellite navigation programme, that could increase the safety around such important events.
Guards near Olympic stadium sending an alarm
A few yards from the new Olympic stadium these guards need more support.
With a personal digital assistant they can send an alarm to their company's headquarters.

In fact, in the control room of the security operator, snap decisions are facilitated through a clear understanding of the situation : thanks to precise positioning of the guards and even access to multimedia data, providing real time information on the problem encountered by the guards.
