    • Description

On 24 April 2005, the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) will be 15 years ago. No other telescope in space has had a similar impact on astronomy at large, and the ESA TV Service is releasing a series of three special programmes on the achievements and perspective of HST.
These special programmes bring together a large amount of-often not yet released- 3-D graphics of HST results and the phenomena it has sbeen observing.
Today's transmission focuses on observations of planets and other bodies in the solar system, and also on exoplanets and the search for life elsewhere in the Universe.
The Programme is made of an A-roll (split audio, English) of five minutes plus a B-roll with clean international sound.

interesting B-roll with images of planets, sky with stars, animations, meteors, etc
VNR: Hubble Special 2 ñ Planetary Tales
      A-roll script
10:00:40 How was our Solar System born? Why and how many planets are there? Why ñ all orbiting the Sun - are they so different from each other? These questions have intrigued astronomers for decades...
Animation Sun, crossing planet, galaxy and Earth
Like a detective the Hubble Space Telescope has been watching closely the objects in our Solar System during its 15 years in space revealing to us the secrets of how our planets formed.
Hubble in space astronomers Animation Solar System
Today we know that about four and half billion years ago the Solar System was created from a huge cloud of thin gas and dust consisting of hydrogen, helium and heavier atoms and molecules. When this gas cloud was disturbed ñ most likely by the blast from an exploding nearby star - some of its matter collapsed inwards, creating a new star in the centre
