Giove ñ Europeís first Galileo satellite

In late December 2005, a Soyuz will roll out to its launch pad, ready to put Giove, the first satellite of the Galileo Programme, into space. Giove is a major step towards Europeís new satellite navigation system which will, when completed, truly revolutionise almost everybodyís daily life. (Galileo constallation graphics ñ cut back to a cut-away shot of Giove with Javier working on it ñ standing nearby ) The main objective of Giove is to ensure that all 30 satellites of the Galileo system can function with the necessary accuracy and reliability. Galileo is a so-called constellation, where all satellites have to work in concert, mutually improving and enhancing the quality of services to the user. Small as it is, Giove is packed with very advanced technology:
