ATV VNR
ESA TV Exchanges
Thirteen years ago, European space ministers agreed to participate in the International Space Station. They decided to create a European corps of astronauts, to build the Columbus laboratory, and to provide the Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) space tug and cargo vessel . After the launch of Columbus on the last Shuttle flight, it is now time for the first mission of the ATV, named the Jules Verne.
The video summarises the main aspects of the ATV programme, with interviews of John Ellwood, ATV Mission Manager ESA and Jean-François Clervoy, ESA astronaut and ATV advisor. It also includes shots in Kourou of cargo being loaded aboard the Jules Verne and final assembly of the spacecraft, and a 3D-graphics animation of an ATV mission.""
