COROT
ESA TV Exchanges
Since its launch in December 2006, the COROT space observatory has already detected five extra-solar planets. The mission is led by the French space agency CNES, together with ESA and Brasilian participation. A further hundred possible cases of exoplanets remain to be analysed, and in the coming months COROT scientists expect to confirm the existence of at least half a dozen. Some of these could be habitable planets, harbouring life like our own. This A & B-Roll describes how COROT observations are being pursued, and the implications of its discoveries todate with ESA Project scientist Malcolm FRIDLUND and the CNES Exploitation manager, Olivier VANDERMARCQ.
