      ESA TV News
Planned on 22 October, Chandrayaan, the first Indian Mission to the moon, will be launched from Sriharikota, an Island located on the East coast of India.
Called SHAR, Sriharikota Satish Dawan Space Centre, it is in this unique site that are prepared and launched the two rockets developped by India.
This story, recently filmed in India, shows rare shots of Sriharikota and its two launch pads with the preparation of the PSLV launcher that will send the Chandrayaan probe to the moon.

This natural reserve on the shores of the Bay of Bengal is a playground for wild birds.
We are 150 kilometres north of Chennai (formerly Madras), on the road linking the island of Sriharikota with the Indian sub-continent.
On the eastern side of the island, the sea stretches out along 800 km from north to south, making it an ideal spot for launching rockets from different polar to equatorial orbits.
Which is why one of Indiaís key technology sites has been based here: the launch centre known as SHAR ñ the Satish Dhawan Space Centre ñ named after the research scientist and former president of the ISRO, the Indian Space Research Organisation.
The island is home to two launch pads for the two rockets developed by India.
