    • Description

The advent of Earth observation satellites has dramatically changed man's vision and perception of the world. Data from space now support meteorology and climatology on a global scale and have greatly contributed to the awareness of the climate changes that today threaten the entire planet. To coincide with the United Nations Climate Change Conference, taking place in Copenhagen between 7-18 December, this A & B-Roll reviews the importance of ESA's Earth Observation missions, particularly that of the Earth Explorer spacecraft such as GOCE, SMOS and soon to be launched Cryosat, and looks forward to the Sentinel programme. The video B-Roll includes interviews with ESA's Volker Liebig, Director of Earth Observation, Stephen Briggs Head of Earth Observation Science and Applications, and Johnny Johannessen of the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Centre in Bergen, Norway.
