      Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease that is widespread in tropical and subtropical regions. Numerous environmental factors affect the number and breeding cycle of mosquitoes. Satellite data can be used to monitor to prevalence and spread of malaria, and to predict the likelihood of disease outbreaks.
