    • Description

The radar altimeter carried by the Sentinel6/Jason-CS satellite uses a new interleaved mode of operation to provide the best measurements of sea-level variability and change. An advanced microwave radiometer that measures the water vapour in the atmosphere complements the altimeter. This information is used to correct the altimeter measurements and for weather forecasting. It builds on heritage from the Jason series of satellites, Copernicus Sentinel-3 and ESA’s CryoSat mission and acts as the reference mission for the satellite altimeter constellation.
